First agenda item upon returning home was to renew my tax disc (license tabs in WA state) which required an MOT (emissions test at home -- here it is a full vehicle inspection by an approved mechanic.)
For the Miata, I recall the total for emissions and tabs came in under $50.00
The MOT and tax disc for my wee Ka just cost me $570.00 for the year (285 GBP).
And I'm not even getting a Monorail with that...
